Title? We dont’ need no stinkin title!
I very much dislike having to put titles on things; it makes me feel like I should confine the message within the post to the title. It is a very cramped way of doing things. Just write! Anyway, you’re here for no apparent reason and I’m not going to introduce you to how I’m going to do things around here, mainly because I’m not sure yet myself. But this post… well it will be about my day.
Today I woke up an hour earlier than usual, 5:30 am. To some people this is early, to others it is late, and to many it is normal. For me it is way too early. I like to sleep in until the last possible moment! Why then did I get up at this hour you may ask? My boss requested my presence at work an hour early, 7am instead of 8 for an important meeting. Did I mention the hour commute to work? Ah, now I have. It turns out that the meeting he thought was at 8:30 was at 10:30. We rushed and ran around with our heads cut off for no apparent purpose. However, my boss was kind enough to buy us all breakfast. Yay, bagel with egg and ham!
After listening to the boss and his cohort plan the sales pitch we tromped back upstairs, well okay we used the elevator, to present to the 15 CIO’s of various state government departments.
There was a great guy there that knew our product and gave us a great intro. The cohort took the ball and ran with it, getting everyone pumped up. Then the boss got a hold of it and did quite well, his usual sales pitch. The product did what it was supposed to do. We had a Mac user attempting to use the program on the other end causing some minor issues, but not as bad as the projector that the state provided us to use. An image that was crystal clear on a standard LCD or CRT came out dark and blotchy on the projector. Then again, we only had the projector for 5 seconds before people came in. The boss and cohort felt that it was a miserable failure, though 2 hours later when we went back to retrieve our gear, there was an overall positive response from the attendees.
When all was said and done, we headed back to the office. Before arriving, the boss provided a lunch over at ‘Pickup Stix’, it was good, I was hungry. Then it was just a normal day like every other day.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled program.
