Whoohoo!

After two weeks of it being out, I have finally replaced my tail light. And after MONTHS of it being out, I have also replaced my front signal lamp. Beware all, now you’ll know when I’m turning!

That being said, I’m not sure I explained about either light so here goes:

Our office manager at work tells me one day my tail light is out, but can not recall which one. I thank her and go on my way. The following day I notice our engineer behind me on the freeway so I call him and ask him which one it is. His reply, “neither, they’re both working fine”. Wha?

The following week I see him behind me again, and this time he calls me. “The left one”. Ah, thank you! So the next day I look at it and can’t figure out how on earth to get the casing off! Alright, so I finally went back to work and the engineer showed me where the screws were inside of the truck bed… I couldn’t find them because they were covered by my rhino liner, duh, we had to cut it away to get at them!

Whoohoo, that was fun I tell you.

Oh gah, I hate doing titles

So my boss expects miracles out of the replacement. That’s no big deal really, I mean I’ll do what I can, I have a backup plan at least..

But what’s more is the idea I had for my other job (ie the one I don’t get paid for) got shot down point blank, without any real good review, or comment, just ‘research this other way of doing it, which I’ve obviously researched already and want us to do’. Yeah okay if you wanted to do it that way to begin with then just leave me out of it, I’m not needed, thanks!

Bah!

Soo not in a good mood.

But, at least Doctor Who was great tonight.. that is if I heard it was great from my british friends, I couldn’t have possibly seen it or anything like that….

Lunch!

April 27th, 2006

Tuesday I had lunch with a former coworker, one whom I’m attempting to keep contact with.

It went well, we sat and talked about the new job, and his new position at his workplace for just about an hour. The meatball subs were alright too, I’d never had one before, that I can recall.

So anyway, it went well, hope to see him again soon, congrats to him on his promotion to store manager too!

Arrr Matey!

The title of this post has absolutely nothing to do with the content.

The past few weeks I’ve been given the lead to train other employees here to get them up to snuff in our software. I’ve patiently trained, answered questions, what not, in the one hour alloted each week. Over this past weekend I had them take a test, open book, open computer, open everything, cheat all they want! The results?

An average score of 68%. The low point? 26.5%. Now the boss wanted everyone to take this training, as to be proficient in the software… Well apparantly some people feel it’s below their post, they shouldn’t have to, it’s unrelated to their job description. Ya know, if the boss says jump, right?

And I’m into the last two weeks of employment here… I do hope things go well…

The Postal Carrier

April 18th, 2006

What good is a federal institution that doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do?

Nearly every day of the year a postal carrier is supposed to stop by this office building, pick up mail, and drop off any mail. S/he did not show up yesterday!

Now what does this mean? This means that anyone in the office who left their taxes for the local postal carrier to wisk their way away… got screwed. Yeah.. great service there USPS. I think it’s time to dissolve the USPS and let us go with just the third party carriers like FedEx and UPS, at least they pick up when they say they’ll pick up!

The week after

April 17th, 2006

A recap:

Last Monday I gave my two weeks notice, on Tuesday that became four weeks as a courtesy to my boss. That leaves three weeks left as of today. Due to my resignation, they put a ‘hire to augment’ on the fast track to become a ‘hire to replace’. So my replacement was hired, and started today.

Aaah, to train your own replacement… by choice! The person they brought in is about the same age I was when I first started with the company, fresh out of college with no practical real world technical experience. That is to say, he has worked, but in retail, landscaping, everything but with computers. Having said that, he does have a bachelors degree in Computer Sciences, so he has theory down at least.

I threw alot of information at him today, we’ll see how it works out.

(BTW Happy Easter, hope it was good for you, it was great for me, I got a little stuffed plush pal duck, yay!)

My life…as a programmer?

April 11th, 2006

Well, the begining of this new life has been delayed. Rather than 2-week notice, my current employer requested 4 weeks. Oddly enough my new employer welcomed this, as my direct supervisor was to be on vacation during my start time. It’s amazing how fate works, truely it is.

The never-ending circle of life

April 11th, 2006

Yesterday I gave my two-weeks notice of resignation. My current boss decided that he would like to keep me on for four weeks, and offered me extra money to do so.

I’m torn, I truely want to leave this place, and I have an offer on the table starting at the new place in two weeks. Should I ask my new employer to delay my start date for extra money? Should I just leave? Gah!

Oh, BTW I got a job offer, and took it, yesterday. My boss was at a loss as to why I was leaving… uhm, yeah okay.

My Brother

April 9th, 2006

It is not as often as I wish that I talk to my brother, he tends to not come online often, and long distance is horrid.

Today he called me (from my parents house), and asked me to be his best man. He has set a date, May 12, 2007, sounds good, I shall attend!

In other unrelated news, we’re back up. We were down due to a billing error that was entirely Wells Fargo’s fault

Two in one

April 7th, 2006

Last night we did the happy hour thing. Invited two different work places into Chili’s. It worked out well, though it was a bit disappointing as well.

Around the table we had the marine, our office manager, the engineer, his wife, Aemilia, myself, Aemilia’s friend from school, and Doc Hydrogen… I don’t think I missed anyone there.

Most of these people were from my workplace, or former employees or relatives thereof. The people who accepted the invitation from Aemilia’s work place did not appear. Those in attedance enjoyed themselves though.

I hear that the office manager and the marine went to Margarita Rocks afterward to continue the fun.

This morning, as you’re aware, I had an interview. I believe it went well, though it’s for a coding position, and I’m much more of a hardware/desktop support type guy. This position would be within 10 minutes of home, so lets hope shall we!
